Power and Capability

The 2020 Ford Explorer offers two gas-engines and a hybrid powertrain for drivers to choose from. Whether you want more power and performance or a greener solution, the Ford Explorer is versatile enough to fit all of your needs. The GMC Acadia can't say the same as it only offers 3-gas powered engines to choose from. The Acadia also can't keep up with producing the amount of power the Explorer can. Standard, the Explorer's 2.3L EcoBoost engine produces 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque! The Acadia's standard 2.5L engine only delivers 193 horsepower and 188 lb.-ft of torque.

If you're looking at higher trim options, neither of the Acadia's available engines can keep up with the Explorer's 3.0L EcoBoost paired with an automatic 10-speed transmission. The Acadia offers an available 2.0L Turbo Engine producing 230 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft of torque, and its available 3.6L V6 engine produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft of torque. The Explorer's 3.0L EcoBoost powers beyond the Acadia's maximum capabilities. Equipped on the Explorer Platinum it produces 365 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft of torque! The Explorer ST takes the same engine and adds twin turbos to boast 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft of torque!

Passengers will get more room in the Explorer with an extra two inches of front legroom, 3.5 more inches of front hiproom, and nearly 6 more inches of rear hiproom.

Don't leave anything behind traveling to your next adventure! The Explorer makes sure there is enough cargo space for all of your gear with an interior cargo space of 47.9 cubic feet or a maximum cargo space of 87.8 cubic feet.
